Hibs welcome St. Johnstone to Easter Road this weekend as they go head to head in the Scottish Premiership.
Tom Pearce, Hibs Picks Predictor (@tompearce97)
This will be the 41st meeting between the two sides, with Hibs coming out on top in 15 of them, whilst losing 14.
This will be the fourth time the two teams will have played each other this season, with Jack Ross’ side winning just the one.
The last meeting saw St. Johnstone come out 1-0 winners, but how will this weekend’s game play out?
Hibs made the Scottish Cup semi-finals last time out via penalties after Motherwell sent it to extra-time with a late goal.
Ross’ side have won just two of their last six league games, though, picking up seven points from a possible 18. They now find themselves in ninth in the form table.
They’ve been decent at home recently, however, as they have won three of their last four games at Easter Road.
St. Johnstone Form
St. Johnstone also made it through to the Scottish Cup semi-finals via penalties, after they knocked out Rangers last time out.
They have failed to win in their last two league games, however, accumulating 11 points from their last six games.
They are also unbeaten in their last four on the road in all competitions, with two wins and two draws.
Our Picks For Hibs Picks – Hibs v St. Johnstone
1. Will Hibernian score in the first half? Yes
Hibs have scored in the opening 45 in three of their last five games in all competitions, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them do it again this weekend.
With 12 goals scored from 17, they are currently averaging 0.71 goals scored per first half at home.
The thing is, St. Johnstone have failed to keep a clean sheet in the first period in a whopping 71% of their away games.
2. Will Hibernian score in the second half? No
Hibs scored both of their goals against Motherwell in the closing 45 minutes, but it’s going to different on Saturday.
Ross’ side have failed to score in the second period in 59% of their home games this campaign.
As well as that, St. Johnstone have conceded 11 from 17, which is an average of 0.65 goals against per second half on the road.
3. How many goals will Hibernian score? 2
The last time these two sides met at Easter Road, Hibs managed to find the net on two occasions.
It’s nothing new, though, as they have scored exactly two goals in 47% of their home games this season.
St. Johnstone’s defensive record on the road is also almost twice as bad as it is when they play on home soil.
With just one clean sheet and 27 goals conceded from 17, they are currently averaging 1.59 goals against per away game.
4. Will Kevin Nisbet score? Yes
The forward has 17 goals to his name this campaign, with 14 of them coming in league games.
He’s in good form as well, as the Scotsman now has three goals in his last four games in the Premiership.
Nisbet doesn’t have the best record against St. Johnstone, though, as he has never scored against them despite facing them five times.
5. Will Martin Boyle score? No
Boyle has put up some good numbers for Hibs this season, with 26 goal contributions in 44 games.
He scored in the 2-1 win against Livingston last time out in the league to score his 15th goal of the season.
Just like Nisbet, Boyle has never scored against St. Johnstone. The thing is, he has played against them eight times more than the striker.
6. Will Christian Doidge score? No
Doidge opened the scoring for Hibs at the weekend, putting them 1-0 up after 52 minutes.
He now has 11 goals to his name this season, with six of them coming in the league.
Where the other two have failed, Doidge has a decent record against St. Johnstone, with three goals in six games against them.
- How many shots on target will Keven Nisbet have? 2
- How many tackles will Ryan Porteous make? 1
- How many saves will Ofir Marciano make? 3
- How many goals will Hibernian concede? 1
