Hibs welcome Livingston to Easter Road tonight, as they go head to head in the second phase of the SPL.
Tom Pearce, Hibs Picks Predictor (@tompearce97)
This will be the 39th meeting between the two sides, with Hibernian coming out on top in 21 of them.
Both teams have beaten each other this season, whilst drawing the most recent meeting 1-1.
It was Livingston who came out on top in the one game at Easter Road this campaign as they won 3-0.
How will tonight’s game play out, though?
Jack Ross’ side made it through to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup at the weekend as they beat Stranraer 4-0 away.
The last time Hibs played in the league, though, they lost 2-1 to Rangers. They have now picked up just seven points from six, meaning they now find themselves in seventh in the form table.
They’ve been slightly inconsistent at home, however, they didn’t play a single game at Easter Road in March.
Livingston were knocked out of the cup at the weekend after drawing 2-2 with Aberdeen before losing via penalties.
They have won just one of their last eight league games as well, accumulating just five points from their last six. That means they currently sit in 11th spot in the form table.
The Lions have failed to win in their last four games on the road, losing three and drawing once.
Our Picks For Hibs Picks – Hibs V Livingston
1. Will Hibernian score in the first half? Yes
Whilst tonight’s opponents will be a much tougher opponent than Saturday’s, they did find the net in the opening 45 at the weekend.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them do it again tonight. That’s because they have scored in the first half in 50% of their home games this season.
As well as that, Livingston have conceded 15 goals from 17, averaging 0.88 goals against per first period on the road.
2. Will Hibernian score in the second half? Yes
Hibs have scored in both halves in 31% of their home games, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see them do it again tonight.
The thing is, they have scored just nine goals from 16, averaging 0.56 goals scored per second half at home.
As well as that, Livingston have kept a clean sheet in the second period 59% of their away games this campaign.
3. How many goals will Hibernian score? 2
The last time Hibs played at home, they beat Hamilton 2-0 and it’s certainly not the first time they’ve done that.
In fact, they have scored exactly two goals in 44% of their home games this campaign.
As well as that, Livingston have a worse defensive record on the road compared to when they play at home.
With 27 goals conceded from 17 matches, they are currently averaging 1.59 goals against per away game.
4. Will Martin Boyle score? Yes
The versatile winger has 14 goals to his name this campaign, with 11 of them coming in the league.
He’s in decent form as well, scoring six goals in his last seven league games with three goals in the cup this month.
Boyle has played against Livingston more than any other team, however, he has scored just three goals in 19 games against them.
5. Will Kevin Nisbet score? No
Nisbet is Hibs’ top goal-scorer this season having found the net 16 times, with 12 of them coming in the league.
He scored just the one against Stranraer and has just one in the league in his last nine appearances.
The forward has quite a good record against Livingston, having scored three goals in six appearances against them.
6. Will Christian Doidge score? No
The forward has started in 76% of Hib’s games this campaign, managing just six league goals in those appearances.
It’s been a while since he has scored in the league, though, with his last one coming in the 4-0 win over Hamilton in December.
- How many shots on target will Hibernian have? 4+
- How many saves will Ofir Marciano have? 2
- How many goals will Hibernian concede? 1
- How many tackles will Paul Hanlon make? 2
